About Tacitus

Tacitus is a professional administrative operations firm for households. It is not a concierge service, and it does not run errands. It provides outsourced back-office operations for people whose lives have outgrown what one person can informally manage, and the product is order, continuity, and follow-through.

Where Tacitus sits

Most services take on one piece of a household's administration: an app to organize, an assistant to complete a task, an advisor or coordinator for a single slice. Tacitus takes responsibility for all of it: one accountable team running the administrative operations of your household.

Virtual assistants

VA firms provide reactive task execution — inbox management, scheduling, research — built for business owners and executives. They take no ownership of the whole operation, aren't integrated with your finances, and don't manage household systems. They're task runners, not an operations partner.

Concierge services

Concierge firms handle reservations, travel, and luxury experiences — lifestyle services, not operational management. They don't do bill management, subscription oversight, paperwork, financial admin, household logistics, or budgeting. Tacitus does exactly the things concierge services don't.

Family offices

Family offices manage assets, investments, estate structures, and tax planning. Tacitus works on the day-to-day administration of the household — bills, claims, renewals, records, and follow-through — for any household.

Personal CFO services

Personal CFO services address budgeting, bill payment, financial planning, and tax coordination — finances only. They don't touch life admin, scheduling, claims, or household logistics. Tacitus covers the household's full administrative surface, not just the money.

Eldercare coordinators

Eldercare coordinators address one vertical: assessment, care coordination, and advocacy for aging parents. Tacitus handles eldercare alongside everything else running in the household at the same time — the school forms and the insurance claim don't pause while the cardiology appointment gets scheduled.

Why “Chief of Staff”

Chief of Staff is a title people already understand as high-trust and results-oriented — someone who handles complexity so the principal doesn't have to think about it. It carries a professional gravitas that “concierge” and “admin support” don't, without triggering the expectations that come with “financial advisor” or “care manager,” titles with regulatory implications Tacitus is intentionally built to stay clear of.

Work is becoming hybrid. Tacitus was built that way.

The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025 surveyed more than 1,000 employers, representing over 14 million workers across 55 economies. Its findings point in one direction: more work done by people and technology together.

Aging
A defining demographic shift in higher-income economies

Care jobs are among the biggest growth areas

Aging populations are driving growth in nursing professionals, personal care aides, and social work and counselling roles through 2030.

What it means for households

Caring for a parent adds appointments, claims, Medicare questions and family coordination to a household that was already full. Tacitus takes on that administrative load, so families can put their time into the care itself.

50%
of employers expect rising cost of living to transform their business

Cost of living is the second most transformative trend

It ranks as the top economic trend, ahead of general economic slowdown.

What it means for households

When prices rise, every dollar matters more. Tacitus works to protect yours: overcharges disputed, reimbursements chased and unused subscriptions cut, all reported in your monthly digest.

64%
of employers see supporting employee well-being as the top way to attract talent

Employee well-being moved from 9th to 1st

It is now employers' top-ranked talent strategy. Supporting workers with caregiving responsibilities (26%) and supplementing childcare (25%) are also on the list.

What it means for households

Employers now see relief at home as part of caring for their people. Tacitus does that for the household side of life: the forms, deadlines and follow-up that travel from home into the workday.

Largest
absolute decline: clerical and secretarial roles

Routine administrative work is being automated

Administrative assistants and executive secretaries are among the roles expected to decline most, and data entry clerks among the fastest-declining roles.

What it means for professionals

As software absorbs routine tasks, the value moves to judgment, follow-through and institutional know-how. Tacitus is designed as the place where experienced administrative professionals lead that work as Chiefs of Staff, with technology handling the routine.

95%+
of the shift away from human-only tasks in insurance and pensions comes from automation

The institutions households rely on are automating fastest

Insurance and pensions management is one of the two industries leading the shift, along with telecommunications, where nearly all of the reduction in human-only work is expected to come from automation.

What it means for households

As insurers and providers move to chatbots and portals, households face harder navigation, not easier. Tacitus acts as the household's own representative in those exchanges, with signed authorizations, so no one navigates an automated system alone.

The same report finds that human skills such as creative thinking, resilience, flexibility and agility remain critical even as technology skills grow fastest. A hybrid team is built around that mix: technology for the routine, and a named Chief of Staff for judgment. It keeps improving as the tools do, without changing who is accountable to you or how much the experience behind it counts.

How Tacitus is priced

Pricing follows the same shift the labor market is making. As software takes on more of the routine work, hours become a weaker measure of what a household gets. Tacitus prices for what stays valuable: accountability, judgment and follow-through.

Priced by scope, not by the hour

Retainers reflect the complexity of your household: a monthly allotment of Chief of Staff tasks and hours, organized around your goals. Projects and transition packages are priced once and scoped at intake, so you know the cost before the work begins.

Technology in the process, people in the decisions

Technology assists with preparation, monitoring and drafting. A named Chief of Staff makes the calls and answers to you. You pay for the accountable person and the outcome, and the technology helps that person cover more ground for every household.

Room for the unexpected

Requests beyond your allotment are never a hard stop, and a life event can begin with a fixed-scope transition package before any retainer.

What Tacitus never does

Tacitus coordinates, organizes, follows up, and documents. Tacitus is not a licensed care manager, attorney, accountant, or healthcare provider, and never provides:

  • Legal advice
  • Financial advice
  • Medical advice
  • Tax planning or investment recommendations
