Pricing
Three ways to work with Tacitus: an ongoing monthly retainer, a project-based package for a specific life event, or a one-off project when you just need one thing handled.
Monthly retainers
- 5 active tasks / month
- 4 admin hours / month
- 10 tracked items
- 1 goal type, fixed package
- 8 active tasks / month
- 8 admin hours / month
- 25 tracked items
- 1 goal type, quarterly reset
- 16 active tasks / month
- 16 admin hours / month
- 50 tracked items
- Self-select from full menu, monthly reset option
Additional requests beyond your monthly allotment are never a hard stop. If your plan covers 8 tasks and you have 3 more this month, we handle all of them for the per-task rate, or help you prioritize the two most urgent within your existing plan.
All retainer plans may be split into two equal semi-monthly payments as a billing convenience.
Civic Lite: $195 a month for verified Karmal Cervus members.Coming soonSee how it works
Community service can earn a household its back office.
The households buried deepest in paperwork are often the ones least able to pay someone to dig them out. Civic Lite is a tier reserved for members of Karmal Cervus, a service-to-access platform also built by Tacitus's founder. Members volunteer with partner nonprofits, Karmal verifies the service, and verified members keep Lite-level support at a reduced Civic rate. Tacitus funds the seats. It never receives or directs any volunteer work.
- Step 1
Join
Enter through Karmal Cervus or through Tacitus directly. Either way, the household becomes an active Karmal member with the $50 annual Cervus Pass.
- Step 2
Serve
Choose opportunities posted by partner nonprofits: food pantries, park cleanups, arts events, clinics and more.
- Step 3
Verify
The organization confirms each completed shift, and Karmal records it as Reeds. Tacitus receives only the verification.
- Step 4
Keep the seat
Each month of verified service keeps Civic Lite active. Reeds bank for 24 months, so a hard month doesn't cost anyone their support.
- Who qualifies
- Active Karmal Cervus members with verified service each month. No means-testing paperwork.
- Membership
- Karmal Cervus bills its $50 annual Cervus Pass separately from your Tacitus fee.
- What it includes
- A named Chief of Staff and Lite-level household operations, the same standard of care as every other client.
- Add-ons
- Add-ons are priced the same as for Lite.
- How many seats
- One Civic seat for every ten paying households. The commitment grows automatically as Tacitus grows, with no fixed ceiling.
- Grace
- Banked Reeds cover a missed month. Support continues while life is hard, which is exactly when households need it.
- Launch
- Verification starts by hand with an established volunteer partner, then moves onto the Karmal platform as it comes online. On the roadmap· Karmal platform
The model has already worked by hand.
Before Karmal had an app, its founder ran the same loop with New York Cares, and every reward was claimed. See the proof of concept.
Karmal Cervus and Tacitus are both founded by the same person, and Civic Lite is structured as a sponsored Offer from Tacitus to Karmal members. Civic Lite pricing, seat ratio and terms are proposed and remain subject to legal and tax review.
Before Karmal had an app, its founder ran the model by hand.
In 2017, 100 VIP weekend passes to AfroPunk were offered through New York Cares. Volunteers who completed 10 hours of verified service on eligible projects earned the credit to claim one. Every pass was claimed, and the service didn't stop when the passes ran out.
One offer, one clear threshold.
The program published a limited reward and exactly what it took to earn it. Nothing could be bought; every pass had to be served for.
100 VIP weekend passes, 10 hours each
An Offer, priced by its Trellis of Reeds
- Reeds
- Credits a member earns only through verified service. They can't be transferred or bought.
- Trellis
- The cost shown with each Offer: how many Reeds it takes.
- Opps
- Volunteer opportunities posted by partner organizations.
- Offers
- Goods, services and experiences that members redeem with their Reeds.
Results are the founder's own account of the 2017 program.

Rush Response$75 to $95 per request
Moves one request to the front of the line. Billed per request, with no monthly fee.

Gives one more person their own file: their accounts, deadlines, renewals, and signed authorization, tracked separately from yours.
